MacBook Pro: Faster Processors of More Memory?

If you're going to really reach for all you can get with the budget you have, which is more desirable; go for faster processors or more memory?

I know you can buy memory for less than what Apple charges, but I think that would void the warranty.

Opinions and thoughts are welcomed. Thanks!

well if you were talking about windows i would say RAM

but since this is a mac. i personally think

CPU power would be nice: for video conversion..

But it does depend on what you use it for.

The best performance boost would be from RAM over processor.

But if you can get more budget later, you can always upgrade the RAM (and prices will probably go down too).

You'll NEVER be able to upgrade the processor until you get a new laptop.

For me, I'd go with the processor, then a month later, spring for one 2GB stick of RAM, then another month later get another 2GB stick (make sure it's exactly the same as the first). On the 3rd month, I'd be ready for a 320GB hard drive (not from Apple).

And upgrading neither the RAM nor the hard drive with a 3rd party product voids the warranty, unless you break something in the process.
