Saved 600 dollars on MacBook RAM! Good thing or Bad thing?

Hello Everyone I just purchased a Macbook Pro 17inch, upgrade to 2.6ghz and Hi Res Glossy Screen. I left everything else the same but, I also just purchased 4GB of RAM from Crucial.com and it only came out to be $129.00 rather than $700.00 apple is asking for. I read in other Forums that Crucial.com was reliable and carried "good brands" of RAM. Does anyone else think different?Did I do a good thing? or a bad thing? and why is apple asking for so much money for RAM?

The crucial ram will do nicely.

Apple likes to skimp on hard drive space and RAM. It is embarrassing sometimes that they can make awesome machines and skimp out the last minute on these two essentials.

    You did the right thing.
