after 2 weeks with my first mac

I've been thinking about buying a mac for over 15 years. But I started out on windows. And then I found it hard to change to mac. Buy new programs, and printers (they where not compatible back then).

In the last 4 years I really wanted to buy a mac but the last 2 computers I esitated and bought PCs (I usualy change every 2 years).

But last week I was at the store and I looked at the mac books and I went back to the car thinking that my next computer would be a mac for sure. Then my wife said, lets go back and buy them!

So we went back in the store and bought 2 mac book. One for me and one for her.

Here are the specs

Her's:

2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

1GB memory

80GB hard drive1

Combo drive

mine:

2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

1GB memory

120GB hard drive1

Double-layer SuperDrive

We also bought an export extreme router and an external hard drive. THe hard drive in the mac book are too small for my needs.

I bought this one only because of the dvd burner or I would have took the same one as my wife.

We sold the 2 PCs. And we are only using mac now!

Like I said, it's been only 2 weeks. We use the computers mostly for internet. I do some basic music recording (3/4 audio tracks and loops).

The computer performs really well. I thought I would have to buy more rams, but 1 gig is enough. It would probably be a little faster with 2 gig but we will see later.

It took me 2 days to learn how to install a program!

But for the last 2 weeks I learned a lot. I read everything I can find, I found many good web sites and I asked a few questions here. I also bought leopard for dummies (the french version, it will be out febuary 5. I pre ordered it). I plan to read it front to back a few times.

I still have many many things to learn (like right now, my web browser is in french and I don't know how to set it so it would fix my english mistakes! So sorry for them )

But I'm getting there. I learned new things every day.

Conclusion, not once I regreted my choice, I never thought about going back to windows or install XP or Vista in dual boot with boot camp.

I'm very happy with my new computer. And in 2 years I will buy another mac. I might go for the mac book pro. Or if the mac book is available with a 15" screen I will stay with the mac book. The only thing I don't really like.

I used to have a dell with a 17" screen. But it was really hard on the battery and it was running so hot it was incredible. So I like the 13" better then the 17" but I thought that 15" would be perfect.

Anyway it was my mac story I wanted to share!!

    Welcome to the fold!

    Any questions? Ask away.

I think you'll find that most of your confusion will result from your wanting things to be more complicated than they are.

That's a good one. You're English is fine. I myself prefer the whole large desktop with a small laptop for the road myself.
