External Screen With a MBP

Ok here's my problem, may seem very simple to some of you!

I have a MBP, bluetooth MIghty Mouse and Keyboard. When I connect the MBP to my 24" Dell Ultrasharp monitor, both screens work fine, and you can either mirror them or arrange them so that you have 2 screens of working space etc etc, doing so in system pref. Anyway, the problem lies when I want to close my MBP, and just use the external screen with the bluetooth mouse and keyboard, with the laptop sitting closed in the corner ticking over nicely near the router.

Can anyone help me on this problem? Bascially keeping the screens mirrored, but preventing the MBP going into sleep when I close it.

Thanks alot.

gives instructions for operating the MBP in clamshell mode, which is what I think you want to do.

Yeah, you also have to make sure that your MBP is plugged in to the mains...
