icons move every startup

I have the original OSX and when I use classic, everytime I start the computer the icons on the desktop move somewhere else. I had them on the right side of the screen but they don't stay there. Anything i can do? Other than that it is very stable and I haven't crashed once, even on AOL!.............................................. .......

    That used to happen to me. Now in 10.1.3 only my Firewire HD's icon moves. Anyone know a fix?

    I'm thinking maybe a desktop rebuild may help both our problems but i forgot which keys to hold down at startup
