Future Macbook Pro and Macbook LCD Display
First of all, this is my first post. Glad to join you guys. I really didn't want to start another thread related to the MBP, but this is also related to the Macbook and I am discussing the LCD display specifically.
I was at the store today and I got to compare the 15" matte MBP, Macbook, and the new MBA (all current gen @ brightest setting). It is without question that the MBA is significantly brighter than the MBP and Macbook. It also offers a better contrast, and overall a much sharper picture.
While the MBP is also LED-backlit, part of the difference in brightness can probably be attributed to the MBP matte display v.s. MBA glossy display. But even next to the Macbook's glossy display, the MBA display looks sharper (probably due to better contrast).
I have been waiting for the new MBP for way too long and almost bought the air on the spot today because of the beautiful display. Dare I say that the MBP display looks horrible in comparison. Everyone who saw the three laptop side-by-side all agree that the MBA has a much brighter display.
How many of you have compared the Macbook Air display with either the MBP or Macbook and what is your thought?
I can only say that I hope the next gen MBP and Macbook will get the same display that MBA has. While I am looking for a desktop replacement, if the next gen MBP does not have a better display that is comparable to the MBA then I will no doubt look else where. But than it's not like Steve will care much for that.
