DreamWeaver MX experiences
I just got it and it's not bad. Imagine 9 with a kelideoscope X theme and that's pretty much DW. The palette are neatly arranged on this bar thing where you click a bar and it expands to show the palette contents. Otherwise, I don't notice much new. There may be, but I didn't use all the heavy features, petty much straight up images, with some light java scripts and light forms work. So nothing jumps out at me that seems new.
Sorry, no SCROLL WHEEL SUPPORT! Why is it half of the carbon apps WON'T SCROLL!!!!???
Ok, rant over, menus are SLOW but it's only beta 2 so I can deal with that. I just love being able to click F12 and have IE launch instead of an error "another version of IE is open" and having to quit IE X and open classic IE.
Overall, looks like a nice port over to X. Can't wait till this puppy is released, but this hopefully will hold me over especially after reding some of the GoLive rants.
Side note- DWMX was 32megs not bloated as GoLive 6 is.
Ok, new is now when you insert an image, you get a window asking for alt text and link (if you want to link the image)
Also, code is now written differently ie. bold and italicized fonts, different colored fonts and the lines are numbered. Also when typing code in, a window menu pops up while typing and offers shortcuts. Like if you type "<" the window which is scrollable (well, not with a wheel) shows all tags containing "<".
That's all for now.

Based on your review, and since I'm already familiar with DW, I'm going to wait a couple of more weeks until MWTY. If DW isn't announced/shipping by then I may just take the plunge and pick up Freeway 3.5.
Anyone have any experience using it?
I suggest you have a look at this tread: <a href="http://www.macaddict.com/forums/Forum21/HTML/000645.html," target="_blank">http://www.macaddict.com/forums/Forum21/HTML/000645.html,</a>
Also, a fully working, 30-day time limited demo can be downloaded here: <a href="http://www.softpress.com" target="_blank">www.softpress.com</a>
Have fun with it!
Sure, first impressions may remind you of page layout, which some find an intuitive interface. But it also has features that allow you to take advantage of CSS, HTML, and JavaScript to produce high-level typographic design, layering, and interactivity without sweating the code.
Freeway publishes the code, slices up images, saves them to sub-directories and even helps create the structure of a site: all processes that other programs do with much more fuss.
Let me say that it's not perfect, but then, what is? It is however very easy to use and produces extremely clean code.
All this is just my opinion of course. Have a look at the reviews on Version Tracker
And, while you're at it, maintain my links
<strong>Freeway made me want to pull my eyelids off. LET ME GET AT THE CODE, DAMMIT.

Exactly, that's why I LOVE Dreamweaver with it's split code/layout interface.
Oh, I got a beta of Dreamweaver MX 6.0 build 1656 and it is NICE. The interface doesn't follow the Aqua UI guidelines, but it seems to be the 'in thing' with app designers these days to improvise on them. Aside from the crashes whenever I click on an image, DW is rock-solid. I can't wait to switch from GoLive 6 which is bloated, slow and it puts ooodles of code I don't want in my sites.
It's not that slow even on my PB 266; on the other hand, it crashes a lot in OS X

<strong>On the other hand, GoLive is pretty well integrated with other Adobe apps, and it's pretty cheap at educational discount.</strong><hr></blockquote>
Dreamweaver too....
<strong>Haven't seen DWMX, but I hear from an official beta tester that DW and DW UltraDev are no longer two separate products... UltraDev is now a standard part of DW.</strong><hr></blockquote>
That's correct, which is great. Despite it being one product it's still not bloatware. Quite nice!

<strong>Too bad "NDA" mean nothing to anyone anymore... Oh and it's REAL smart to post reviews on software you don't own.

Yea, I'm really frightened to post my experiences with a beta that expires in 95 days at which point I will purcahse the release
We are here to inform those without the beta of our experiences, if you do not condone this action, you should not be at this site, much less reading any of the posts.

EXACTLY!
But all of this is besides the point. I agree with the previous post that Ultradev and Dreamweaver are one in the same. While I don't know this for a fact at all, it would seem that all of ultradev's features that distinguished it as a seperate product are present and accounted for. Perhaps this means that ultradev will come out with new and amazing features like tight integration with macromedia cold fusion or what have you, I don't know.
As for my previous post, I figured it out anyway, and the feature works great. Just make sure if you're running the mysql server locally to set the application server location to <a href="http://localhost/" target="_blank">http://localhost/</a> , not just /localhost/ or any other variant.
Of course, on another note, I am not sure I like the code that's generated by dw6 in reference to database connectivity. I don't know... It's just that I've been doing it for so long by hand, I don't know if it'll be worth it in the long run to adapt to dreamweaver's way of doing things. Probably will in the end though, as it'll save me time in the long run.

Read: = extreme sarcasm
I realize that no one would be talking about it here if they were "actually" under NDA but since we're all a bunch of thieves we're not required to shut up

<strong>Calling it just a glorified page-layout prgram doesn't do it justice. Freeway takes Web design to a new level. It's the only true designer-friendly Web site tool, and is clearly as powerful as the better-known and more technically challenging competition. If you don't think in code, it lets you compete with the best, effortlessly. In case you want to mess around with code, Freeway's Actions will let you perform magic.
</strong><hr></blockquote>
but i do think in code. i'm sure it be usefull to many, but it's a bit limiting to someone who doesn't feel like a site is done till its been edited in bbedit
