we just got a bunch of new macs!
My grad school advisor just bought us a lot of hardware stuff!
We are three grad students and a post doc and now we have 4 iMacs (24" 2.8GHz, 4GB RAM and 1 TB HD) and one server (MacPro 8-core 2.8 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 4 x1TB HD).
I think this is awesome.
We are planning on setting these up in one minicluster behind the server on a gigabit network.
We don't know much about system administration but we really need to get these machines on an XGrid to process our data and in some fast file sharing system so everyone can access the data on the server with no significant delay.
We are all very excited.
I am sure I will soon have a lots of questions on how to set these up on an Xgrid.
