new macbook without multi-touch
New macbook is available on apple online store, but why it does not include multi-touch trackpad. Is it because macbook is not worth for this new technology? I think macbook is more popular than macbook pro for non-professional users. Maybe there will be another update for macbook soon?
Steve, what r u thinking there!!?

Oh, that would be my birthday then! How fortunate
That's when I shall buy anyway, so please Steve consider the option.
Maybe we can expect multi touch trackpads on MacBooks in 2 months. End of April.

The last 2 mid-Mays have seen MacBook updates (presumably for the education buying season). I want to buy a MacBook around then, and though it doesn't seem entirely likely, I wish they'd get Multi-touch in them then.
I guess I could wait 2 more weeks then... we'll see about the rumors around those dates.
I just hope my 2 old PCs won't die until then. They've been on artificial respiration for the last 2 months already, and the occasion is perfect to switch to Apple.
Thanks for the tip DoctorRobert!

I wouldn't advise you to wait for a speculative update if you need a computer, but personally I will pay attention to whispers in rumour sites, as I'll be buying around then and find the multi-touch will end up being valuable to me. Do keep in mind however that many people end up waiting for unsubstantiated updates and suffer plenty of frustration. A good resource is http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/ and both MacRumors and AppleInsider are excellent, prudent in their speculation, and reliable in their statements. The MacBooks as they are today are truly great machines, especially if you're coming from a PC. I recommended one for my brother (who's very happy with it) and got a used one myself. Good luck.

Just a little update since my Acer died once and for all, and I am now writing on the backlit keyboard of my brand new Penryn MBP (15", 2.4Ghz)!
I felt it was a good timing anyway: maybe the best MBPs we'll get with this design (new designs being better occasions for hardware/heat issues etc), and in any case , a machine that I expect will be reliable for a fairly long time. Now if you'll excuse me, I have a few nights of playing/adapting/discovering/transferring before me .
Thanks again for the advice, I guess I will venture more often in the softwares section of the forum now!
Lets hope the MB is getting multi-touch in the next update.
Well you can expect a MB update sometime around May or June. MB is going Montevina!!!. Not sure which is more powerfull though? a Montevina MB or SantaRosa MBP? (can someone give me a answer for this)
Lets hope the MB is getting multi-touch in the next update.
Yes! I knew about that! And after the Montevina revolution, we will see the Nehalem update, and then something new every 6 months that will be even better, etc. But I did not so much switch from Windows to Apple. The way I see it, I switched from those who wait, to those who enjoy .

I doubt we will see regular 6 month updates, Apple tends to go about 8 months between updates. The last one for the MB is rumored to be due to Intel's push to eliminate production of the chip it was using. The next one will most likely be at least a month after the release of the new chip so that Apple can build sufficient supplies of the new chip to meet demand. Also MB updates tend to follow MBP updates by at least a month. The next updates are going to be to the iMac and Mac Mini and they will most likely not update the MB's or MBP's in the same month.
Nehalem is way way far from production
