Problems with new MacBook Pros?

I purchased the new 15" mbp (2.5 ghz) on Tuesday, and noticed that my caps lock key was lacking sensitivity. I took it the the Apple Store and they thought it was worthy of a replacement. After bringing the new one home, it was also having the same issue. It feels as though I have to hit this key down much harder to get the caps lock state active.

Has anyone else had any issues? Thanks.

Could be a problem with a limited batch. When you take the current one back, make sure you open its replacement in the store to make sure it doesn't have the same (or any other) issue. 3rd time lucky!

It's normal behaviour with Apple keyboards, as far as I know, since they released the ultra-slim external keyboard.

Caps-lock now needs to be held down slightly longer for it to activate.

Not on my "ultra-slim" MacBook keyboard.

Anyway, the O/P has a MacBook Pro (doesn't have "ultra-slim" style keyboard), and someone at the Apple Store already acknowledged that the behaviour was not correct by giving him/her a replacement (it's just a shame they didn't check said replacement before getting it home).

What generation of Macbook do you have?

Just because the Apple Store employee gave him a new laptop it doesn't mean that the behaviour is not correct.

Read the comments on the wired story.

I'd guess that Apple are now using the same keyboard controller in the MBPs.

Interesting links. The O/P is talking about having to hit the key harder rather than hold it down longer. Maybe they should try holding the key down longer instead of bashing it.

I've a wired slimline keyboard and think the (ever so slightly) extended press to activate caps lock is a good thing. On those occasions when you accidentally brush it, caps lock doesn't engage. A normal hit to switch it off is fine too. Nice one
