Finder crashes on desktop and startup slowness

I can't even launch terminal to delete .ds_store.

Finder is crashing literally every few seconds before I can even launch any apps. I can launch apps in my toolbar but that's it.

I also am trying to get the crash log. But that isn't working either.

Need some help please. If you all need some more information I will check this thread every five mins.

I'm using 10.4.11 btw.

Try booting from your install DVD then going into Disk Utility and repairing disk and permissions.

The problem could be as simple as corrupted preferences which this should fix.

Additionally, press [Apple][Option][O][F] then start your computer. This will send the mac into Open Firmware mode.

At the prompt type "reset nvram" (without the quotes and if that doesn't work put a - hyphen between the words) and then type "reset pram" (again without quotes and if need be a - hyphen between words) which will cause the computer to reboot (without warning).

    Hope this helps!
