I would love that motherboard in a mini. Full sized DIMM slots, up to quad core chip, eSATA, GMA X4500HD, and HDMI. What kind of cases are available for these motherboards on the PC side? This looks like it would be much smaller than a Shuttle.

Here's Newegg.com's page of miniITX cases. Pretty slim pickings. The mini-itx.com store has more. They're mostly quite a bit larger than a Mac mini, but then most of them are designed for desktop-size hard drives and optical drives. MiniITX is popular for media center PCs, in-car PCs, and thin clients.

it should still have a full x16 slot for a real video card or on board video with it's own ram like how the new ati chipset can use.

You're more likely to get a 4,200rpm 1.8" hard drive, RAM soldered on to the motherboard, no Ethernet, one USB and no optical drive...

...oh yeah, and it'll cost more than a Mac Pro.

But it'll be REALLY thin, and will fit inside an envelope.

Would be nice if this actually comes out on Mac Mini with a finally below 500 USD Mac. ( aka 499 USD )

Not only will be most affordable. But it will also for the first time be valuble for money with desktop parts.

Apple could drop the price right now and make money. The mini uses such outdated components, their margins on it must be pretty good.

    Not going to happen, though.
