Does anyone have any idea when Apple might be updating its line of iMacs? I need to purchase one and I'd hate to do so just before a new product revision.

Could be this month, then again maybe not?

Probably won't have a significant upgrade - maybe similar to the recent MB & MBP speed & HDD bump

The general rule of thumb seems to be If you need it now, buy it now. You're getting great machine if you do it this month or next and there'll always be a better machine in 6 - 9 months

Good point. I wonder which iMac is currently the best value?

Always get the best machine you can afford, but hold a little back for the RAM upgrade - just don't get it from Apple. Most people will recommend OWC or Crucial, doing it yourself is a breeze.

Treat yourself and max it out to 4GB

Apple's memory has always been outrageously overpriced.

I usually buy from TransIntl.com. They seem to be pretty reliable and they do stand behind their products.
