How does Trash X compare to Alladin Software's Secure Delete, and vice versa? I also know that StuffIt Deluxe has a secure delete feature. How do they compare? Also, how does CodeTek Studios' SafeShed compare to Secure Delete?

If you're a UNIX fiend like me, GNU fileutils has a tool called "shred" which overwrites a file with 0s or 1s...

Aladdin has really dropped the ball with their OSX apps. None of them work properly with names greater than 31 characters. None of them properly handle files larger than 2 GB. I have been very disappointed; I used to look up to Aladdin as a model Mac-supporter.

Trash X will do the job better and cheaper than Secure Delete. Of you can go the way of the Terminal as Eugene mentioned...

Most of the reviews are bad for Trash X simply because it *should* be free and because most people think it's an unnecessary app.

If you check VersionTracker's reviews on Secure Delete, you'll see even worse reviews and even more people complaining about the price.
