Has anyone heard any news on whether Apple is going to come out with a Pcie 1.0 version of the Nvidia 8800GT for Mac Pro owners pre-08?

Many thanks,

Jim

There's never going to be a "PCIe 1.0" version of the 8800GT, that would require Nvidia to reingineer the GPU. That's not the problem, anyway, the problem is 32-bit EFI vs. 64-bit EFI.

Well that's disappointing to here, as I read on another web site that Apple "was" going to release a 1.0 version, just no timetable as yet. I was checking here to see if I'd get any similar feedback. IMHO, a real blunder on Apple's part.

Perhaps I didn't, can you clarify for me, e.g. 32-bit EFI vs. 64-bit EFI?

At any rate, its still poor support on Apple's part. I'm sure I am not alone in looking for a viable upgrade for my Nvidia 7300GT, the ATI 1900XT not being the answer.
