Dragging Safari URLs to desktop

Ok, this is annoying.



I often drag URLs from Safari's Address Bar to the desktop. For some reason, today the URL keeps refusing to land on the desktop and returns to the address bar when I let go of the cursor.



What am I doing wrong here?

    Sounds like somehow your desktop preferences got hosed. Get Tinkertool if you don't have it already. In the TT Finder pane make sure "Disable Desktop Features" is unchecked.

    I'm not going to do surgery on my machine this week (since I have an important project due) but I'll get to it later.

    I wouldn't worry about that little fix. It's about as invasive as washing your hands. And takes about as long.
