Free file recovery software?

I accidentally deleted some images from my new MBP yesterday, and unfortunately didn't have them saved anywhere else. They were the last set I had shot on my CF cards, so I found some file recovery demos that I was able to view the recovered files with, but since they were just demos, I couldn't save them. Is there a FREE program that will let me retrieve the files, or will I just have to shell out the dough for a good file recovery program. In that case, what does everyone recommend?

I don't think there are any decent free ones. I would recommend Data Rescue:

I've used it on a number of occasions to recover files and photos. You generally have to do the thorough scan though and it takes a while.
