hi

I searched and didnt find anyone else talking about this problem

I bought a new mac pro 8 core 2.8 ghz in feb 2008, 2gig ram, NVIDIA GeForce 8800

it came with leopard installed and I upgraded online to 10.5.2

when I put it to sleep and then try to wake it, it just doesnt wake, and I hear the mac chime as it reboots

is anyone else getting this problem

Im thinking of erasing the internal drive and reinstalling the software

I have a MacMini which does the same thing.

I think it is a hardware fault, I suggest getting your machine serviced by Apple.

Well after reading for hours and hours online I found that there is a firmware upgrade for the mac pro 8core which fixes this sleep-reboot problem

some people were just resetting the system controller and zapping pram and for some this wasnt enough so they had to update firmware
