MAC Pro can't read DVDs

Ok I have a Macpro running leopard - it worked just fine until I downloaded the latest update. Now it doesn't want to know about reading DVDs. It has no problem reading CDs. What the heck is this? I assume the drive is not pooched. Any Ideas?
