OSX Slow??? or is it just me?

I am currently ruuning OS 10.1.4 and really love it, infact havent booted OS9 in so long. However just recently I have noticed my computer running real sluggish and slow.



I am currently editing a webpage in Dreamweaver MX together with Fireworks MX. The only other apps running is MSN (Chat) itunes and IE5...



is there any reason why my computer is acting all slow? is it OSX?? Do I need more ram...

Comp specs: G4/400 256, 30GB etc





Cant wait for my new Ti 800Mhz

    Another 256 MB would probably help some. Perhaps you computer just needs a restart?



    As far as OS X being a little slow (if your refering to the GUI) ... refer to the many Jaguar posts.

    yes you need at least 512 MB of ram, ideally a Gig to glean professionally acceptable results from OS X (at least IMHO, if others disagree, chime in)



    BUT, if you really have a new PB on the way, save your money... you will soon find your older G4 collecting dust! (only because the new PB will be all you need and will be terribly terribly addictive! )



    Again OS X is in its infancy, w/ improvements en route albeit due in late August/early Sept! Be patient... We won't see OS X screaming past Wintels for a little while yet... but SMP and Cocoa w/ Darwin (read Mach 3.0) are a match made in heaven and will soon be doing things that are impossible w/ intel/AMD chipsets...



    If we had to be patient as Mac Users waiting for a modern OS, we must be also be twice as patient for that modern OS to come to fruition. (which it will OH MY FACKING GOD IT WILL! )

    Get more RAM, it'll make a DRAMATIC difference.



    There's a utility out there, I think I found it at Stepwise.com but I'm not sure, which lets you turn on window compression (turned off in 10.1.x because Apple thought there was a bug) and increase the priority of the Window Server & Finder so they get more processor time.
