Ok so you guys pushed me over the edge I'm buying the iMac. BUT...should I wait until after the WWDC? Does anyone think there will be anything new that would make waiting to buy the new iMac worth it? I personally get the feeling that it is going to be all about the 3G iPhone, and possibly updates to the laptop line, but I would like your guys input.

I would say that the odds of a new iMac at WWDC are closer, much, much closer, to 0% than 1 %.

Anybody that knows anything has signed an NDA. All else is guesswork. IMO, there will be nothing new in the iMac arena at the WWDC. Announcing new stand alone displays would not surprise me. Again JMO, but, the only advantage to waiting to buy an iMac is to take advantage of the annual back to school offers, but that's going to be maybe a couple of months away. If the thought of an iPod nano makes you tingle, I'd wait. If you don't care anymore about the iPod nano than I do, then you would be placing your order now.

Remember, whenever you buy it, a newer model is not that far off. Make a decision, buy it!

Yeah that's called a "cease and desist" followed by ravenous attorneys swarming Psystar headquarter like the ATF on David Koresh's ass.

They are paying the full cost of mac os x it just the eula that is what apple can use and this will make for a good court case I hope it goes all the way to the supreme court as there is precedent setting that needs to be done for eulas and in parts out side of the us apple can't use a eula to stop people from loading mac os x that pay for on to any system.

The price of mac os x is just about the same as the OEM versions of windows go for dell and others get a even lower price so you are not under paying for it.

Trying to use the DMCA may work but there are exemptions and out side of the us this it does not work.

apple can't use the DMCA to stop Iphone uses form useing it on other networks.

I heard Apple sent Chuck Norris a cease and desist.

    Seems to have worked.

You should wait until Apple make a proper consumer desktop so it's likely that you will be waiting long after the WWDC.

But I doubt that they will update the iMac again. The only reason to wait would have been a Montevina update but it got some stuff early so it will only be the Mini and possibly Macbooks getting updated.

I would personally wait for a Mini update because you might find that it's a better buy. They are generally better machines regarding usability.

The rule of thumb when buying a Mac (or any piece of equipment) is: If you need it to make money, buy it now. Otherwise, shop a bit, and see what's affordable. Keep in mind your new Mac is an old Mac right after you open the box...

There's no harm in waiting until after WWDC to purchase a Mac, if it's for home. Budget minded folks usually wait until after a new Mac is introduced, and then scoop up the older, but still perfectly good model at the closeout price. Most bang for the buck, IMO.

I agree. I don't think there will be any update before November. Especially now that there is the option for some decent GPU.
