CIA v Apple. When it comes to secrecy, Apple wins.
Here we are just a day or so before WWDC and we're all waiting to see what the 3G iPhone looks like. Despite the best efforts of hundreds of industry insiders, no one has managed to post a picture of the real thing.
This says a lot about Apple.
Keeping such a thing secret is not easy. The device is designed in America, has chips from Germany, is manufactured in China and depends on various other third-party components from a whole host of different countries.
Apple has locked its suppliers into incredible non-disclosure agreements. And it seems to work.
The German Car Industry, by comparison, which designs, manufactures and sources most of its components in Europe if not within Germany, is useless at keeping its cars a secret before they released. Somehow they cannot control their workers.
The CIA, God bless 'em, which also has a less than perfect record at keeping secret things secret sure could learn something from Apple.

Bueller?
Bueller?
Thought so.
Yes, this is a terrible example. The CIA has such a vast volume of information and secrets you could not even imagine. When CIA information is leaked, it's usually well after something has occurred, and relative to the total information there, very limited.
Right. Trust me, we don't even know a remote minority of stuff that is at CIA. That place has more secrets than you can imagine.
