World Clock Settings

I recently returned to the U.K. after a number of years living in the U.S.A.

My iPhone is currently no use to me as a telephone, although I am considering unlocking it with ZiPhone or some such software hack. Right now, I can -- and do -- still use the iPhone's many other features.

One thing puzzles me, though: the World Clock. Under Settings/General/Date & Time, I have changed the time zone to read London, and set the time to BST. No problem there; the time at the top of the main page is correct. However, when I then go to the World Clock widget on the main page, London is showing up five hours ahead of BST. Other cities are also not showing their true local times.

There's probably something dead simple that I'm doing wrong, but no amount of fiddling with the settings seems to solve the issue. Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

With thanks in advance.
