AppleCare for iPhone 3G ?

I plan to purchase 2 iPhone 3Gs (one for me and one for my wife), but was wondering what the current conventional wisdom says about purchasing AppleCare ($69/phone)? I've always purchased it the past for my iMacs and my MacBook, but am not sure whether it's worth it for the iPhone.

Thoughts?

this discussion should also include insurance for loss or damage which i don't think applecare covers.

I personally am not buying AppleCare because there are no moving parts. It's more likely I'll drop the thing and break it which wouldn't be covered anyway.

If anything were to go I'd say it would be the LED screen. The iPhone comes with a 1 year warranty so you're spending $70 for an additional year, I don't think it's worth it.

so what are the chances of the battery going? applecare would replace the battery correct?

also when can you get apple care if you do, at time of purchase of within 90 days??? is there a time limit?

i wonder how many of AI members got applecare for the first iphone?

or maybe a poll should be done?
