XP Office 2004 compatibility?

I have a ton of school documents saved from my old IBM I drafted using XP Office 2004. If I purchased Office 2008 for my mac will they be compatible?

    They will open fine as long as the extension on the old documents has .doc at the end when showing on your mac.



    If office 2008 fails to open them grab Neo Office 2.2.4 for free and patch 3 it will open most older and new stuff if office 2008 won't and save so that office 2008 will be able to open them.
