OSX 10.1 Won't Update

Hey Guys,

I recently helped my sister out fixing her TiBook and before i got to it she had deleted the system folder and reinstalled 10.1. The Problem is now the computer won't update. It thinks all the updates installed before the reinstall are still there. Where does os x keep it's records for updates at, how would i delete those? Thanks!

-Andy

ps: i have also tried to manually download and install the updates from apple's page with no luck.

    greetings,

make sure you've installed the security update and the installer update. you won't be able to proceed any further until you've done this.

here's the apple page for the combined 10.1.5 update as well as the others i mentioned:

    Greetings,

Back when 10.0 was released, a lot of people excitedly installed pre-releases of 10.0.1 and so forth and found that you couldn't install the official release thereafter. one such fix was to remove the contents of the "Receipts" folder inside the main "Library" folder. Take a look inside that folder and see what's been installed.

If all else fails, copy the user folders and start fresh.

I have the same problem. When I was trying to update to 10.1.4 I tried installing it and said that I wasn't allowed to on my hard drive.

    [edit: nagha said it first...]

You've got to delete the receipts of previous updates from your /Library/Receipts folder. If it says that you can't install them, it's because you didn't install the InstallerUpdate. It's required for all of the installations. HTH.
