Can I Upgrade This iBook G4 for "FCE" v.4?

Recently I purchased "Final Cut Express," v.4 for digital editing.

My iBook G4 has a 1.20 Mhz processor and 512 Mgb of RAM. When I went to install "FCE,"

its documentation told me I that I needed:

a) 1 Ggb of RAM, and

b) a 1.25 Mhz processor

Can I upgrade my iBook G4 OK to meet those requirements? (& can I get away with

just a 1.20 Mhz processor?)

If so, would it be costly?

Thanks for any feedback!

It shouldn't be a problem. I once ran Final Cut Pro 5 on an old G4 iBook with 1.067 GHz and 1.25 GB Ram.

So you should max out the RAM (up to 1,25 GB) with a 1 GB stick (if you have two 256 MB sticks), but don't expect a very good performance with the 32MB VRAM video card. FCE wants to have 64 MB for optimal performance, but 32 MB should suffice.

And you mean GHz and not MHz, don't you?

PS: If you have already installed it, how does it run? Or did the installer not continue, because it "saw" that you don't meet the minimum system requirements?

PPS: You can't upgrade your processor, because that would affect the complete Logic Board. Maybe you can get your hands on an copy of Final Cut Pro 5 via Ebay or so. FCP 5 doesn't need that much, as you can see here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301576

Yes, I meant Ghz, not Mhz!

I was able to install FCE, but during the install, the system crabbed about not

having the appropriate requirements on my G4.

An electronics-engineer friend told me that there isn't all that much difference between

a 1.20 Ghz processor, and a 1.25 Ghz processor, in the iBook.

    We shall see...

If I keep this G4, I wonder if it will run FCE 5, whenever it comes out...? Probably not....

    Thanks again for your feedback.
