Bumping this to the top as it now puts the upgrade price to where I think it should be...
I don't want to pre-order from Amazon, only to find I have to wait an extra three weeks, and then find out I don't qualify anymore.
Anyone know? Amazon's CS person wasn't real helpful in shedding light on this.

I KNEW I should have ordered it as soon as I saw it! I don't even know what my rationale was, considering my card wouldn't have been charged until August, when I'll have more money.
Stupid, stupid, STUPID tetzel! *smacks forehead*
Well, hopefully that whole supply/demand thing will kick in and either someone else will offer a similar rebate or Amazon will reinstate theirs.
<strong>Arrrrrgh!!

If you really wanna get Jaguar cheaper why don't you just use Apple's education discount? They don't ask for proof so why not?

They don't ask for proof?! I thought you had to have a student ID card or something at the stores, and you have to go through that whole school selection rigmarole at the online store..?
<strong>Poor language from the Amazon spokesperson. I think they were taken aback by the amount of orders. Anyway, if you ordered prior to 7 PM PDT on July 31, they will accept your coupon for the $50 rebate. Based on rumors and ignorance some people canceled their orders earlier today. They didn't have to since Jag ships on Aug 24 and you can always cancel an Amazon order prior to the ship date with absolutely no problem. Maybe this is why Apple has trouble getting a larger share of the marketplace... i.e. some so called Apple supporters "Think Stupid!"

From looking at the Amazon rebate coupon, I see no mention of any language that says you must pre-order the software by a given date. I suspect that Amazon is hoping that by pulling the info from their main page that they will sharply decrease the number of people taking advantage of the offer.
If you plan to buy it either way, I'd say try doing it through Amazon and sending in the rebate. The worst thing that can happen is that you would be paying the $129 (but at least without shipping charges)

You are correct about the rebate document. I wonder if Amazon is BOUND to honor the rebate document as it is worded (any purchase between 7/29 and 9/4 I think).
Now, however, I have a dilema. Try Amazon and risk getting screwed. Or try Micro Warehouse for $30 guaranteed?
Hmmm...

If the $20 matters that much that you'd deal with trying to pull a fast one on Amazon knowing you'd have at least some 'fight on your hands' why not just find someone who has a 'school aged' kid and get them to buy it via the edu channel?
