A question from a mac newbie

Hey there, I just bought a Powerbook and a friend had said that he'd read that Jaguar could be bought cheaper to people who just bought computers with OSX installed. Is there any truth in this and if not, is it worth me spending $130 to upgrade an OS I just purchased?

If you did miss the deadline for the Mac OS Up-To-Date Program, you can still save a little money by purchasing OSX 10.2 through Amazon.com and sending the $50 rebate.

Effectively bringing down the cost to $79.00

    Purchase here:

    <a href="http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006F7S2/qid=1028038659/sr=11-1/ref=sr_11_1/102-7129549-9929729&quot; target="_blank">Amazon.com 10.2 Page</a>

If you cannot find the rebate coupon, you can download it from here: <a href="http://images.amazon.com/images/P/B00005AFHZ.01.RB02.LZZZZZZZ.jpg"; target="_blank">Download Rebate</a>

Oh I can get the education discount, I'm in college. I still intend on calling and bitching, but I'd forgotten all about it during their business hours.
