Actually, you are best off if you never unplug. If you can't do that, just try not to let the battery drain totally. What kills batteries is high current charge and discharge, which is an inherent problem because Lithium battery vendors all overrate the current limits of their cells. Really, there should be no such thing as a three-hour charger.
