Spotlight indexes every time I boot

Hey guys,

I've Googled and searched many forums for help with this, but I didn't really find a conclusive answer anywhere. I hope you guys can help me.

It seems that everytime I reboot my iMac, Spotlight does a new index, which makes the machine pretty unresponsive the first few minutes after startup. I'm the kinda guy that always shuts down his machine if he doesn't use it so I do ave to boot a few times a day. Also, It's not that big an issue, but my MacBook doesn't do this and is instantly snappy (tm) when I start up.

The only difference I can think of is the FAT32 Windows partition on my iMac that is always mounted. Could this be what causes the constant indexing? If so, is there a way to make OSX not mount that drive, because I don't really use it under OSX.

Thanks in advance.

Add your partitions into the privacy part of Spotlight's system preference then remove them (you can leave the Windows one in there if you don't need to search it). If it continues to reindex after rebooting, try repairing your permissions with Disk Utility.

The trick with the privacy pane seems to have fixed it. I rebooted twice and it didn't index on either. You sir, are a God! Thanks a million!
