RAM not recognized in my Mac Pro.. any ideas?
UPDATE: Solved
Hi all,
I have a Mac Pro Dual 3.2GHZ that came with stock 2GB Apple installed RAM with latest 10.5.5 and as soon as update was installed and all verified to work properly I shut it down and installed my new RAM that just arrived
Specs: Kingston KTA-XE800K2/4G (Apple Certified)
I properly installed the 8GB of RAM (4 x 2GB modules) and restarted and I only have 6GB appearing as recognized.
I shut down and re-verified, changed ram modules around in different slots, etc.. still nothing, only 2 modules recognized.
I have now following:
Top 1: 1GB
Top 2: Empty (even though there IS a module in)
Top 3: 2GB
Top 4: Emtpty
Bottom 1: 1GB
Bottom 2: Empty (even though there IS a module in)
Bottom 3: 2GB
Bottom 4: Emtpty
What gives? Can BOTH the modules be defective? Any ideas?
