Mac Pro power consumption
Hi,
I was thinking of buying a mac pro 8 core with 4-8 gb of ram, however I have a small concern about the power consumption of this beast.
I understand that Pro's are fitted with fully buffered DIMMS, and one of the things keeping me away from buying a mac - or xeon powered computer - is that I've heard that a stick of FB-DIMM uses about 75W of power just to operate.
I know its a relatively small amount in the big picture, but I dont want a computer sucking half a kW of power when sitting Idle - or under load infact.
Does anyone have any wall measurements of a tricked out mac pro, sitting idle and under full load?
I would be getting a 8800 videocard aswell.
Thanks
