I need an .avi converter

i need an .avi converter so i can use my video files on quicktime, i have a samsung camera that saves its files in .avi, i have a video playback for .avi, but i need a converter so i can use the files in iMovie, help would be appreciated

    Without knowing which model Samsung you have or which codecs it uses, you may not need a "converter." Most .avi videos today are DivX files and can be handled by the DivX Codec. The Perian codec bundle will handle DivX and many other formats.



    There is no benefit to transcoding videos if you have the proper codecs to handle them directly. If you insist, however, then you may try VisualHub.
