Problems using iTunes to convert video

I am using OS 10.5.4 and have the latest version of iTunes. I just bought a new iPod Nano and thought I would try to put some of my music videos I downloaded a long time ago. Eventually I want to know how to put any movie on my iPod and after a little research I figured out the easiest way was to use iTunes "create iPod iPhone version" tool.

It worked great in converting the file...HOWEVER the music doesn't get converted along with it it seems. There is no sound in the new file created.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Also anyone know any other programs that make converting files easy? I have all different types of mpeg and avi formats.

Thanks
