Streaming Apple TV
I am looking at buying an Apple TV. I was wondering if I am able to download SD and HD movies/shoes to my iMac or Time Capsule and then stream them from there to the Apple TV. Basically, I'm trying to decide if I need the 160GB version or if the 40 will be enough. Thanks in advance.

I keep all of my movies (about 600GB worth) on my iMac and attached external drives. They play just fine from there to my Apple TV. I can't follow all the discussion on these boards about HD etc. but I transcode my DVD's using Handbrake and the AppleTV setting which is 2500kbps. This streams just fine. I do have hard-wire connection to both the iMac and AppleTV but its only a 100MBPS router.

I turned off streaming from my MacBook Pro to my Apply TV and only sync'd the unwatched movies.
Two reasons, while I still have a hundred or so unwatched flicks I found it distracting to have all the other good flicks on there.
But also I found it wasn't the best to stream, it would stutter about while it buffered every ten minutes or so. But I don't have it hard wired in any way, and it is sent over a wireless g network. So not really the best solution for streaming 2gig-ish files.
TV shows streamed fine though in this environment.
And there is no probs with streaming music.
