Wow i mean wow. Do they really expect people to upgrade to this thing ? So they throw in couple of 3rd party effects and that's it ?

no 64bit support for another 2 years , no OpenGL improvements.... this upgrade is probably worst i've ever seen , and not just from Adobe. Hell Windows 98SE was bigger upgrade to W98 than this.

Look at it this way, they finally separated the x,y and z curves so you can animate them separately.

If they've totally removed those dumb speed curves and implemented a proper spline curve editor then it's already a big improvement.

Kinda amazes me how software giants get away with leaving out features that would take about 10 minutes to fix and would prevent a lot of headaches. Like Apple taking 7 years to implement variable desktop grid spacing.

I guess what they do is leave little annoyances all over the place and then when they run out of ideas that would encourage you to upgrade one last time, they can say 'hey, y'know all those little annoying things we deliberately left in that you hate? Well, we decided to fix 'em. Pay us more money please'.

At least Adobe are updating their professional software though unlike Apple. They just buy software from other people put a sticker on it and let it decompose.

Apple and their software division has gone downhill and silent for little bit longer than is healthy , no doubt about it.... but this is about Adobe and this is ONLY bussiness Adobe has. At least Apple has some hardware to remedy the situation , what about Adobe ? To me this upgrade is alot smaller than 6.0 -> 6.5. Timeline tweaks , timeline / comp searching and few 3rd party effects don't warrant whole new version and upgrade fee , at least to me. AE needs 64bit alot more than Photoshop , it needs GPU acceleration across the board , not just some hand picked effects , use of multicore alot more , not just for rendering....

AE CS3 works for now and i'll wait and see what Apple has up their sleeve with their Shake successor. I wish they were little bit more open about it though....
