No, it's not compatible and doesn't even look the same.

The Mac Pro wireless card is installed only by a authorized reseller/repair centre.

    Costs about 50 Euro's.

    That's the official part.

I got mine from a authorized reseller and build it in myself.

You need to know what you're doing since it's tiny as hell!

I'm also not pleased with the thing. But maybe it's my module.

Overall it works great, and suddenly the connection drops for like 30 seconds.

    It's completely random.

that's what i was thinking but i just though that they changed the picture on the apple website to make it look nice.

but is there anywhere online that i can buy the card that's compatible with my system and i can just install myself?

Nope, can't buy them online because officially you need to bring your Mac Pro to the authorized reseller and let them build it in.

Hence it's of no use to sell them online.

Although probably with some effort you might find someone selling, but it's hard.

You'll need small fingers if you want to fit it yourself.

The card fits into a slot (underneath the first hard drive).

It takes two small screws to hold it down -

then you need to attach two of the small coaxial antenna cables.

Installing the PCB isn't the problem, attaching the antenna cables is hell!

They are so small and fit so tight it took me a while to get them attached.

Atm I ain't even using the wireless module.

It somehow looses connection every once in a while for no apparent reason.

Complete network loss, but it restores itself in 30 seconds or so.

No clue what goes wrong, but very annoying if you play a online game.

The simple way is to use the card bus slot. There are cards for this, and in fact I have one from Sonnet for my G4 Titanium. This eliminates all of the fuss with installing an internal card. Be sure to get the correct card for your particular model.

What card bus slot? Or do you mean buying a PCI-E card with a slot on it?

And if you talking about the MacBook Pro, we're talking about the Mac Pro workstation.

ok thank you for helping me out. i am going to order that one now from powermax.

but could you help me out and tell me which antenna wires go where?

i got the wires out but i ended up pulling 3 of them out and i already have bluetooth installed so all 3 of those wires would have to be for the airport card.

    now which wire goes where?

Be sure to read the bottom part. It says something about different builds of the Mac Pro, and where the antennas have to be.
