Yipee! We get new coupons!
According to ThinkSecret we get new, lime green Up-to-Date coupons with Jag. All you bastards who are going to pirate Jag will have to do without! I'm framing my old ones.

Sorry to inform you, but the coupons are apparently not redeemable. That?s the reason I?m framing mine. I think of them as a token to help induce sales of a product-? almost like baseball cards. Collect the whole set. Maybe they should put photos of the OS programmers and Apple staff on them, or even the Think Different poster people.

That's a fine idea!
Right now, you can use the back of these great little things to make notes, or doodle.
They're also real good for cleaning fingernails.

I thought of those uses, too, but thankfully did not yield to the temptations. By the time the G5 ships, a complete mint set running from 10.0 to 10.4 will sell on Ebay for about the same price as that new G5! And if your one of the lucky few who have the limited edition ?Three Faces of Steve? (Showing Steve as Apple CEO, Pixar CEO, and watering a sunflower) you can pretty much retire on the sale of that bad boy.
P.S.- I think to have a chance at receiving the ?Three Faces? coupon, you not only have to pay for upgrades, but also must be a .mac member.
i have the Software Coupons that I got with my iBook that I got in Febuary.
Can I use those for a discount on Jagwire? Or do I have to frame them too?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't these only be useful for those who purchase Jaguar right before the next OS X update? What's the point of including them at this point?

You will need to use them if 10.3 is free and you want it shipped from Apple.

Gotta frame them.
And people that pirate Jaguar are going to pirate the next update, the the next...They don't need coupons.

Not necessarily true. I'm d/l'ing 115 now and i've already bought my copy. I just don't like to wait.

I can't think of a single instance where those coupons were needed since upgrading from 8.6 to 9.0. That's it.
I'm wondering why they bother with them anymore . . .

When Apple started preinstalling OS X on new systems, I think you needed a coupon (from 9) if you bought a computer that did not come with it installed. I bought an iBook that shipped just before they started pre-installing; I got OS X for free (I think) by sending in a coupon and form.
When 10.1 shipped, you were supposed to present a coupon from 10.0 to pick up the free upgrade kit, tho when I took mine in, they didn't want to see it. You could also send the coupon to Apple with $20 for the kit.
At least that's what I remember. There have been so many updates and every one has been handled differently, and I've been through way too many computers in the past two years!
