AppleInsider spamming Mobile Safari with ads?

I have not noticed this on any other site, nor on AppleInsider until recently, but sometimes when viewing content on the front page or even in the forums, AppleInsider spams Mobile Safari with a full page ad when clicking a link.

For example.

1) I click a link on the frontpage.

2) Clicking the link causes an separate window to open up with a full-page display of a random ad.

3) The original page I was clicking on gets put into the background.

4) When I end up closing out the ad page on going back to the page I was originally trying to open, it has to refresh itself.

This has happened numerous times over the past week or so. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Here's an example of an ad that popped up as I was simply trying to go from the AppleInsider homepage to the Forums in Safari:
