Windows on Mac Questions (Vista or XP?)

I am a long time Mac user. I am finally going to upgrade my aging 15" 1.5Ghz Powerbook G4 when Apple announces new laptops tomorrow. I am pretty damned unfamiliar with Windows Vista (We use Windows XP at work). Since Microsoft has discontinued Windows XP, and now only sells Vista, which version would be recommended that I pick up? Or should I just try and hunt down a new copy of XP? Also, I know that Vista had a ton of problems, so I was also curious if any of you guys knew if these have been corrected, thus actually making it a worthwhile product. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!

I would go for XP. Vista issues will be sorted as time goes on but XP is just less hassle. I know a long time PC user who downgraded recently from Vista. They got fed up with software not working and just generally preferred XP. Here's a copy on ebay:

It has to be SP2 and not an upgrade disc.
