PS. While it seems evident that the Macbook got a lot closer to the MBP this time around except for FIREWIRE, and since they are using the same body, chasis, and a few extra features on MBP, does anyone feel like the MBP 15" model became cheapened? With the exception of 1394b and no MATTE (on new MBP), its not really worth it and since Apple spent all this time moving away from LOGIC, FINAL CUT, SHAKE classes, what are they going to do with all those consumers that have macbooks (or new one's), that they have converted into new iLife users and digital users?

Apple has spent millions proving it is the "GO TO" solution for the DIGITAL LIFESTYLE yet the lack of FIREWIRE really says, mistake, mistake, mistake! Forget the external HD's or worse, PRO AUDIO users that have FIREWIRE, and just think consumer. All camera's use FIREWIRE (most) and since the FIREWIRE has it's own chipset vs USB which takes CPU cycles, not only does the user NOT have a machine they can upgrade to and use for CONSUMER use, but since the USB requires CPU cycles, its a much slower experience.

How can Apple explain this? How do you explain, HI IM A MAC and I make movies, edit video (iMovie) and move away from firewire when 90%+ of camera's are firewire? I could see if there was a $1400 model, but there isn't. Steve looked lost on the stage yesterday and when they were passing around the chasis, I promise he actually looked like someone might pocket one, he was that paranoid.

Love the guy and thank the Lord for him and his contributions, but Steve's still paranoid about the PRO users using the lower end and not including firewire after YEARS of success in presenting the MAC as a great solution, they have shot themselves in the foot.

Very strange.
