I would really like an honest and well-educated opinion on this, so if anyone has any input that would be great.
If you use it for anything serious or need firewire, get the old one. If you want a slightly more portable machine, get the new one. The MBP is going to be faster if you are pushing it hard or playing games.
I can get the new MB (2.0Ghz) with 4GB RAM and AppleCare for $1565 or the last gen base MBP (2.4 Ghz) with only 2GB RAM and no AppleCare for $1399.
I'm leaning towards the old MBP. Any opinions?
I'm trying to make a decision between the old mbp 2.4 and the new mb 2.4. As far as I can tell the old pro refurbished for $1349 is a better deal than the new mb. Can anyone tell me what advantages the new mb has over the old mbp? aside from the unibody? .....(every time I see that word I can't help thinking of Ted Kaczynski.)

The differences are:
13" LED Backlit vs 15" Standard Display
2.0 Ghz vs 2.4 Ghz
RAM Can be the same for a small price.
Integrated Nvidia vs Dedicated graphics
Unibody Al vs Multibody Al
Firewire/DVI port vs MiniVideo/No FW Port
That's it is as far as specs go.
The New MB is obviously new. It has a really nice display, a more sound build, and a glossy screen (take that however you want, I like them)
So basically it's a Newer/more portable vs Older/Better Computer.
The Ooooh factor is the only thing that is making this decision tough for me.

I've been watching ebay and craigslist for mbps and tonight I won the bid on a 2.5ghz 17" with LED 1920x1200 glossy(ugh) for $1445.00
Pretty damn good deal, I thought... I'm excited, and plan on using this to hold me over until Nehalem based quad-core 17"s come out late next year.
