My Moto Map

Ok, I did this just for fun so don't flame me with how retarded this is (if you must, that?s fine too)



I took the moto map and added dates. I did this by evenly spacing each year with when each chip was released, in order to "Predict" the future.



My three points of "origin" were, ?91 = 601, early?97 = G3, and mid?99 = G4.





Remember, this was just for fun!

Where's the G7? I heard a rumor that we were going to see the G5 in January, the G6 in March, and the G7 in August?!!?!

If they are "always" behind schedule, this graph makes up for that. See how each of the grey columns are equally spaced? From 91 to 2007.



Great job, Blizaine. If this is as right-on as it seems, then we ought to see a G5 by March (MWTY).

what i think about is the following:



this roadmap coming from motorola exists since the days of the 603e and 604 !!! why didn't they plan further on generation 7? for me, it seems that motorola has either stopped to show off their future-plans to everyone or they will stop the development on PPC-processors soon after the G6 is ready.



what do you think about that?

Can anyone verify the dates with the chip releases? Like the G3 in 97 and the G4 in July or so of 99? Or did their graphics shift to make more room for the text?

Nah, motorola is already researching technologies that will be used in the G7. Namedly a hyper-clocking technique that will allow Ghz speeds of 30 - 40Ghz.



But that is useless as intel are working on the Terrahertz transistor, that they are planning to introduce from 2005 onwards, 'apparentely'. <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />

Then the above map isn't accurate following those above Apple history links. The G3 came out in Nov of 97, yet the graph indicates it came out in Jan. So maybe the years line up or maybe it's all just coincidence

Everything other than the G3 seems to line up OK from what I can tell. The G4 did come in mid '99 and PowerPCs in mid '94, meaning that the G3 had been out as the high-end for the shortest period. I think this is a damn good estimate. Thanks for taking the time, Blizaine.

SJ said G4 over the whole line, but that has never been the case. iMac came out with G3 shortly after this they announced G4 in PM. It's the same now. The iMac has a G4 and the PM will get within 2months a G5.

YOu see it all makes sense, like <a href="http://www.architosh.com"; target="_blank">architosh</a> almost predicts now.

Yea, but maybe the graphs are just enlongated to make room for text. Still kinda accurate, job work

The first G3 machines came in the spring of 1997 from PowerComputing. Apple did not have a G3 desktop series until late-November of that year after buying out PowerComputing.
