MBA V1.0 users: How do we want to be served ?.

I think most MBA owners will agree, except for the heat/fan issues, the machine is almost perfect for its intended design use. Most of us have AppleCare, so at least 3 years usage would be reasonable to expect for the price we paid for.

Now for some potential upgrades. The new V2 AIR uses SATA interface, we know. However, the plug itself is a specialised ZIF rather than standard SATA connector in the 2.5 inch disk. Yes, these are 1.8 inch variety that fits in the AIR, but 3rd-party drives are difficult to source.

So Apple, with the 120Gb HDD and a potential 240GB 1.8 inch unit from Toshiba, can Apple make some volumes available in ZIF Pata format ?. For a company like Apple, they can without paying a single cent!. You can count how many users users are willing to upgrade. I bet most would for a resonable fee.

This upgrade goes with your SSD which are 128GB in size but now on SATA ZIF rather than PATA ZIF so not directly compatible. Actually it will be cheaper to build pata ZIF circuitry for the manufacturer of the disk. At least give us, Gen 1 MBA users some room to expand without sticking in the USB storage.

Next, the new 24 inch Display. Can Apple also provide a cable to hook this ?. Mini-DV to Mini-DisplayPort. There are people using Gen1 and Gen2 Airs and would like the convenience of switching to the display.

These are very reasonable and basic request to service your customers.

Either there are mostly MacBook users or actual MBA V1.0 users just gives up and sell their machines ?.

Well, I will use mine for 12 months and then trade up to whatever is the prevailing model of MBA at the time. Yes, 4GB max would be nice but form-factor and weight are the key things people go after MBA. The rest of the weaknesses does not matter as we either have a powerful desktop or a MBP ?
