Why are Mac's running so poorly these days?
I've had problem after problem with my MacBook Pro. I installed the most recent system update and it's completely messed up my iChat and slowed my internet connection big time. I'm not the only one either. All of my friends with Apple computers (specifically the newer ones) have had endless problems with wireless networks and internet connectivity. Is it just me or is Apple turning into Windows more and more each day? These constant software updates and bug fixes are getting to be a disaster. Is anyone else feeling the same?

Internet Connectivity and Wireless connectivity are 2 separate issues.
Throw a hardlink from the base station/switch/hub to your laptop and check your performance metrics.
Repeat with wifi only.
Check connectivity with other non-apple access points base stations and check the performance metrics.
iChat is a completely different issue.
rename your iChat preferences under your user account:
/homeAccount/Library/Preferences/
com.apple.iChat.AIM.plist, com.apple.iChat.plist, com.apple.iChat.Jabber.plist, com.apple.iChat.SubNet.plist, com.apple.iChatAgent.plist, etc., to com.apple.iChat...plist.old for each one.
Restart iChat and walk through the wizard again to initialize iChat and all your settings options.
Compare the performance of this with Adium.app and see what sorts of performance issues might be occurring.
Make sure that you have Console.app lauched and reviewed for each application to see what sorts of log file outputs for your applications occur.
Research on any errors, warnings and other suspicious log outputs.
