Well - I bought it from CompUsa with Super Drive , 128MB , GeForce2 , and 60GB HD - For $2500.00 - I dumped in a GB of Ram and a 30GB IBM Deskstar HD -
Sold on ebay in 12hrs flat for $2700.00
I'm happy with the price but sad at the fact I'll be without a Mac for a month or so - and if no G5 - 6 months or so <img src="graemlins/hmmm.gif" border="0" alt="[Hmmm]" />
I CONFIRMED from a source that they are running out of 867Mhz, 800Mhz, and 733Mhz G4's and they are going to have to go back to 500Mhz for another year or so!

LOL! It sounds like what you're saying is that having the biggest, fastest, latest Powermac is so important to you that you'll go without a computer for MONTHS just so you can have the cutting edge....
You sir, are the architypical male who endlessly searches for that one thing that will finally compensate for his rudimentary stump of a prick. What a loser.
Pretty big mistake. Even if the G5 comes out at MWSF it'll still be a while for Aple to actually ship them (you know how they are). So you'll end up being without a Mac for a while.
Well i have a Pismo and revA iMac as well so I think I can manage for a while - The whole reason i sold is cause i just bought that G4 3 months ago - i had been waiting and waiting before I bought it.
Oh and JD - just from cruising this forum for a few hours I already discoverd YOU are the biggest loser here - Anyone else agree?
Sorry about that, Budz. I'm hoping to see a G5 by MWNY next summer. This happens every year around this time. People on this forum start trying to outbid each others with their MWSF predictions. Watch, it'll get even sillier. Then we'll get a dual 1GHz in January and everybody here will whine until March.
Eversince I bought my cube, I find I'm no longer interested in the speed of my Mac. It does everything I need it to do (mainly audio and graphics), and it simply looks gorgeous. Need nothing more!!

He's been a pretty big loser here (no offennse JD) for a while but since AI came back he hasn't been bad for the most part.
On the plus side, AI hasn't been innundated with the morons who post to MacNN... yet... I can tolerate a few JDs in a sea of generally intelligent posters who offer something useful (as opposed to people who post baseless speculation and flat lies every 10 minutes... hrm...).
If nothing else, one can always just ignore any threads started by such posters. They get locked and move down the list pretty quickly anyway.
Anyway, back to the issue at hand:
I still feel that although G5s may debut in Jan, the release won't be anywhere near what everybody desires. And I really don't feel that they will be releasing 1.6 GHz systems with this purported Gigawire and all the other great additions that we feel should be "standard" until mid '02. I hope I'm wrong, but that's what my gut tells me.
And two Julys ago marked the release of the first dual G4 systems (that's when I got my DP 500). I would think that this July may mark the release of the first dual G5 systems. Although perhaps Apple will keep the dualies as a permanent top-end entry in their lineup even during the transition to the G5.

if G5;else end
Yes
No.
If G5 then your 867 is going to be worthless.
If no G5 then you will have a dilema, do you re-buy a ghz G4 or wait for the G5!
