os X equivalent of chooser
I know someone already asked about this, but i was searching for the thread and I can't find it...
What is the OS X equivalent of the Chooser in os 9? I'm looking to try and find other computers on my network (up at school) and search through their files... My roommate with XP Pro can do it just by going to "my Network Neighborhood" why can't I search other people's files like he can?

You should be able to do this in the Finder. Convenient, eh?

Kant be easier
ftp://user:[email protected]/ should do it, or ftp://[email protected]/ and it'll prompt you for a pass.

While we are on the topic of command-k how do you login to an FTP addy with another name other then annonnymous

Careful with this feature until 10.2.1. It'll lock up your computer requiring a forced reboot. It sucks that it doesn't work, but it will rock when it does.
right click on the harddrive icon and select sharing...
You've tried using "connect to server" and the browse window doesn't see any other machines? You should be able to see windows machines just fine. You're using 10.2? A little confirmation of any of these questions would help narrow it down.

here is an example of what I am saying... on windows they just "click" on the server they want on the mac yo uhave to type in the path....

This is true in 10.1, but in 10.2, you can browse for any other machines in the "Connect to Server" dialog. I just hooked up my Dell to my new iMac that way. Have you tried turning on personal file sharing and windows file sharing in the Sharing systems prefs panel?
