Dvorak typing revisited
Alright, I'm sure there are more weirdos out there.
I started about a year ago as part of a hand rehabilitation process. I tried once before, just out of curiosity, and I found that the claims of picking it up quickly were optimistic at best. The rehab made for better motivation. I use a PC laptop at work that has a QWERTY-marked keyboard (but Dvorak mapped) and at home a mac with the keys re-organized.
That's all nice, but I guess what I really wanted to bring up is the lack of a proper Dvorak layout on the iPhone. There's a hack, but it's not a great one. I would guess that thumb typing in Dvorak should put thumb QWERTY to shame due to the higher amount of alternations in Dvorak. Honestly, the only thing preventing me from getting an iPhone is the lack of a proper Dvorak keyboard for it. Other smart phones are pretty much out of the question due to their fixed keyboards.
Is anyone else in this boat?
