There is an article on digg today http://digg.com/apple/Android_Gettin...ered_by_iPhone that shows the number of open development and programming gigs available on the market for both the iPhone and Google Android SDK (software development kits).

Death for the Android, or is Google not able to make that "wow" factor when it comes to developing a platform for games & mobi apps?

Anyone that owns an Android want to chime in?

I have neither but the failure of Android to keep up with the iPhone isn't the least bit surprising.

    1. Android was listed as the "open" plaform for phones. So what. Just because your phone OS is open doesn't mean you are absolved from the idiocy of the network.

    2. Android isn't an iPod. The iPhone gets a huge boost simply because it's an iPod as much as it's a phone.

    3. There are no killer apps on the Android phones that cannot be done on the iPhone afaik.

I think the future Android based phones will be more clever but it's going to take some time to ramp up. My guess is that Google will begin to leverage some of their web apps to improve the platform.
